Description
The Old Farmhouse and Pine Cottage is a house and cottage located on Osea Island, dating from the early 19th century and possibly earlier. The structures are timber-framed and covered in black weatherboarding. The cottage features half-hipped gambrel roofs made of plain tiles, while the house has two low-pitched gabled roofs covered in slate.
The cottage is a single storey with an attic and has an L-shaped layout with a gambrel-roofed rear wing. The house is part two storey and part single storey with an attic, and it includes a pantile-roofed lean-to on the south end. The front of the cottage has two gabled dormers that contain small-paned sash windows, along with two similar windows and a door on the ground floor, which is sheltered by a single hood. There is a stack located behind the ridge of the main range and another gabled dormer on the north-facing slope of the rear range.
The house features two small-paned sash windows on the first floor of the two-storey section, along with a 16-pane sash window and an entrance below. The single-storey section has a 12-pane sash window in the front wall with a moulded surround, and a 9-pane sash window at attic level on the south elevation. There is also a stack on the south flank of the two-storey block. The interior has not been inspected.
