Description
Ivy House and Ivy Cottage are a house and attached cottage dating from the mid-18th century, with an early 19th-century addition. They are constructed from coursed local stone, featuring ashlar dressings and pantile roofs. The building has raised and coped gables with kneelers, a single ridge, and two gable stacks. The farmhouse has a pantile roof, while the cottage has a roof made of Roman tiles.
The west facade shows the original farmhouse on the left, which has a central doorway with a 6-panel door, flanked by two plain sash windows, with two similar sash windows above. To the right is a taller cottage with a doorway on the right, also featuring a 6-panel door, and a larger plain sash window to the left, with a single similar sash window above. On the left side, there is a single-storey outhouse with a plank door and a loft doorway above it. The right return has a single doorway with a late 20th-century gabled porch, and a plain sash window above. The irregular rear facade includes both casement windows and margin-light sashes.
Overall, Ivy House and Ivy Cottage represent a well-preserved example of local vernacular Georgian architecture, showcasing the characteristics of the period.
