Description
The forecourt walls, gate piers, and railings to the school in Castleton were built around 1874. They are made of coursed squared tooled stone with sloped copings and feature cast iron elements. The low front walls have a raised center that holds railings with patterned heads. There are three pairs of chamfered gate piers topped with ogee pyramidal caps, which bear the initials D.S.B., representing the Danby School Board.
