Description
This barn, located 40 meters northeast of Spains Hall, dates from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of timber framing and render, topped with gabled roofs covered in peg tiles. The barn features eight bays, with cart entrances located in the third bay from each end. There are gabled midstreys on the west side that are now blocked, and plain gables above the large doors on the east side. The west side also has lean-to extensions that are covered with peg tiles. The timber framing is made of softwood, lacking jowls, and includes straight bracing along with elaborate cast iron 'knees' beneath the tie beams. The roof is supported by side purlins and queen post trusses. This barn is included in the listing primarily for its group value.
