Description
No. 6 Sir Isaac's Walk is a house that dates from the 16th century and early 19th century. It is timber framed and rendered, with red brick on the front and east flank walls. The roofs are gabled and covered with plain tiles, featuring a stepped, plain parapet. The house has two storeys and includes later rear extensions.
On the front, the first floor has two recessed double-hung sash windows, each with three vertical glazing bars (modified margin glazing), stone cills, and rendered arches with fluted keystones. The ground floor has two similar windows and a 20th-century glazed door beneath a similar rendered head.
Inside, there is a formerly jettied cross-wing, likely from the 16th century, which has a very narrow span and a miniature crown-post roof. The east flank features curved wall bracing, probably leading to a former hall that now has a later structure. The house also has jowled posts and a gable at the rear.
