Description

No 3A on Scheregate is a corner house dating from 1656, featuring timber framing and plastering. It has a tiled roof and consists of two storeys, an attic, and cellars. The building has wings that extend to the north and west. The upper storey projects on the east and south sides of No 4, supported by a heavy diagonal bracket that springs from a capital carved with conventional foliage. There is also a carved bracket supporting the south projection and similar brackets at the angles of the gable on the east side. This property, along with Nos 1 to 4 on Scheregate, forms a group. The ground floor currently contains modern shops.
