Description

Nos 1 and 2 Scheregate is a 17th century timber-framed and plastered building that stands two storeys high, with attics and cellars. The roofs are tiled, and there is a coved plaster eaves cornice on the west front. The ground floor features two modern shops. An oval date panel on the front indicates the year 1692. There may be hidden remains of the Roman Town Wall incorporated into the foundations of No 2. This building is part of a group that includes Scheregate and Nos 1 to 4 consecutively.
