Description
Quay Cottage, located on The Quay in Wivenhoe, is an early to mid-19th century house. It is constructed of red brick laid in Flemish bond and features a peg-tiled roof.
The cottage is two storeys high and consists of two bays. The roof is ridged and hipped to the east, with eaves and a red brick end stack. The south-facing elevation has a central entrance door on the ground floor, which has two leaves made up of six fielded panels. The door case includes panelled reveals and a flat leaded hood. Flanking the entrance are two 8 over 8 sash windows with rendered, straight heads, which are mirrored by two additional sash windows on the first floor.
The interior has not been inspected but is believed to contain two heated ground floor rooms. Although the fireplaces are said to have been removed, the plain wooden surrounds are still present.
