Description

No. 2 East Street and Nonsuch House is a 17th-century building located in Wivenhoe. The structure features a later addition at the front, which is one bay deep, facing north onto East Street. The north facade is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and has a roof with slate ridge and gables.

On the first storey, there is a row of six small-paned sash windows positioned under the eaves. The ground storey on the east side includes a plain door and a fixed 16-pane window to the left, both set beneath a straight arch. The shop front on the ground storey is notable for its four fluted wooden pilasters and decorative patera at the intersections of the hood. Centrally, there are two plain doors, and to the right, two additional small-paned sash windows.
