Description

Old Garrison House is a house dating to circa 1600. It is timber-framed and pargetted. The roof is covered with peg tiles and has a ridge, gable, and dormers. Two red brick chimney stacks are visible, one at the east end and one near the west end. The pargetting, which is decorative plasterwork, is confined to the first floor of the street frontage and features a squared strapwork grid with voluted floral patterns in relief. The ground storey is weatherboarded in black, with a modern door and four pairs of modern casement windows. Facing the rear, the elevation juts out at multiple levels; the upper storey has exposed posts with elaborately jowled and pendanted tops, and the eaves also jut out.
