Description

No. 2 Rose Lane is a house that dates from the late 17th century, with early 19th century and later alterations. The front of the house features a combination of render and weatherboarding, while the rear is constructed of early 19th century brick over a timber frame. It has a gabled roof covered with old tiles and a brick lateral stack at the rear. The house has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys tall, with a three-window range.

The entrance features a 20th century half-glazed door set within a reset early 19th century wood architrave, topped by a bracketed flat hood. The windows on the front include 12-pane sashes, and there is a 20th century one-light casement above the door. The rear elevation was rebuilt in the early 19th century and includes six 16-pane sashes, three blocked doors, and an early 19th century wood door architrave with a bracketed flat hood. To the left of the front, there is an early 19th century two-storey extension made of brick and tile, which has had openings inserted in the 1950s.

Inside, the house features stop-chamfered lateral and transverse beams, a 19th century plank door leading to early 19th century winder stairs, 17th century ribbed and plank doors on the first floor, and 17th century collar trusses. The building is included for its group value.
