Description
Nos. 13 and 15 on Alderford Street are a house and extension that have been converted into two dwellings. They date from the 18th century, with a possibly earlier core. The left lower range extension, No. 13, features a 20th-century rough rendered facing and is timber framed and plastered. Both sections have red tiled roofs; the roof of No. 13 is hipped to the left and has a rear chimney stack. The main range has left and right red brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high with attics in the main range, which includes two flat-headed dormers. A panelled parapet and a modillioned cornice are present, along with two two-storey semi-circular bays. The main façade has a three-window range of small paned vertically sliding sashes. Access is via six steps leading to a fine six-panelled door, which has a moulded semi-circular light above, fluted columns with capitals and bases, a frieze, and dentilled soffits supporting an open pediment. The left range features a single range of 20th-century four-light casements with transoms.
