Description
Searles is a house with an 18th century facade and an earlier core, located on Alderford Street in Sible Hedingham. The building is timber framed and features pargetted panels. It has a two-level red tiled roof with moulded and dentilled eaves cornices, and there are red brick chimney stacks at each level. The house is two storeys tall and has a two-window range of small paned vertically sliding sashes in moulded surrounds on the left side, and a three-light casement with transoms on the right side. The entrance features a recessed four-panelled door with two lights, flanked by fluted pilasters with capitals and bases, a panelled fascia, and a dentilled and moulded flat canopy. At the rear left, there is a gabled outbuilding that is plastered and has a red tiled roof, along with a red brick chimney stack and double vertically boarded doors. This outbuilding is connected to the main range by a smaller outbuilding.
