Description
Nos. 3 and 4 Silver Street are two dwellings that may have originally been one house, dating from the 17th century. The buildings are constructed from rubble and cob, with the left side (No. 4) covered in colourwashed render and the right side (No. 3) whitewashed. They have a slate roof featuring a gable end axial rubble stack, a brick stack at the right gable end, and an off-centre brick stack at the rear of No. 4. There are two 20th-century right-angled extensions to the rear, creating an F-shaped plan, with the extension to No. 4 having a corrugated roof.
The buildings are two storeys high. No. 3 has a three-window range of 20th-century windows, with 12 panes and a 4-paned top-hinged light above. There is a 20th-century door with a sash window of 8 panes over 8 panes to the left and a sash window of 3 panes over 2 panes to the right. No. 4 features two timber sash windows with 8 panes over 8 panes, located to the left of a 4-panelled door that has a wooden canopy above it. Inside, there is a roll-moulded fireplace lintel with bar stops, and the 17th-century trusses remain intact, featuring two tiers of trenched purlins and slightly cambered pegged collars.
