Description

Dove Cottage is a cottage dated 1683, as indicated on a reset plaster panel in the dormer gable on the front wall. It is timber framed, plaster rendered with an incised design that imitates ashlar, and features a thatched roof with a ridge stack. The cottage has three bays and is one storey high with an attic. There is one gable dormer and three ground floor 19th-century iron casements that have been reset in the front wall. The doorway is located in the centre bay. Inside, there has been some disturbance of the timber framing, but the original heavy ceiling joists are laid flat. There is a dog leg staircase with original vase-shaped splat balusters leading to the landing.
