Description
Lupin Cottage is a late 17th-century cottage that was subdivided and extended around 1840, now functioning as a single dwelling. The building features a timber frame with wattle and daub infill, rendered walls, and a half-hipped reed thatch roof. It has a ridge stack that is rendered. The cottage consists of three bays, including a narrower buttery or storage bay at the north-west end. It is one storey with an attic, featuring two full gable dormers with 19th-century casements, one leaded stairlight window, and two ground floor iron frame casements. The eaves are boarded.
At the south-east end, there is a single bay addition from around 1840 with a slate roof, which has a similar iron frame casement on the end wall. On the south-west side, there is a thatched lean-to addition dating from the 18th to 19th century, which likely included a bread oven that has since been removed. Inside, the cottage has back-to-back hearths, including an inglenook and a smaller contemporary hearth in the parlour. The roof features side purlins and typical framing. There are opposing front and rear doorways leading off the hall.
