Description
Pound Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1820-1830. It is constructed from gault brick, with some red brick used on the first floor of the rear service range. The building features a low pitch, hipped roof made of slate and has two internal stacks that are symmetrically placed. The farmhouse has a double pile plan with a rear service wing, standing two storeys tall and having a double front.
The front has a range of three recessed hung sash windows, each with twelve panes and original stone sills, topped by flat arches. The central doorway is framed by a contemporary reeded doorcase, which includes a narrow flat hood and panelled reveals. The door itself is half glazed and panelled, with a rectangular fanlight above that has glazing bars.
Inside, the layout consists of two rooms on either side of a narrower hall and stair bay. The original staircase features square section balusters and an open string with a curtail. One of the ground floor rooms includes a black marble fireplace surround.
