Description
Barbary Cottage is a cottage dating from the 18th century, with an extension added at the southeast end in the 19th century. It features a timber frame, rendered exterior, and long straw thatch roofing, with a ridge stack. The cottage is one storey with an attic. The north wall has two 19th-century cast iron casement windows and one small wooden casement window. There are doorways at the front and rear, with boarded doors located in the center bay. A lean-to is present at the rear, and there is one gable dormer. The east end has two additional bays added in the 19th century, which are framed, rendered, and covered with pantiles. Inside, the attic covers only one bay and includes iron ladder treads set into the chimney breast, along with an inglenook hearth and slender framing.
