Description
Silhouette Hair Design is a house and shop located on the north-east side of High Street. It is divided by a through passageway and was originally two late 17th century ranges positioned at right angles to the street. The common street facade was rebuilt after a fire on the site in 1684. The building has two storeys with attics, constructed of local brick and rendered. It features a steeply pitched plain tile roof with parapet gables and an end stack on the north-west side. A deep, moulded wooden cornice with modillions adorns the top, and there are three flat roofed dormer windows. The first floor has five hung sash windows with glazing bars, while the central entrance has a modern panelled door with a reeded doorcase and fanlight. Additionally, there is an early 19th century three-light hung sash window with patterned glazing bars on the north-west side. The south-east side has modern shop windows and a door. This building was formerly known as the Crown Inn until around 1900.
