Description

Clancarty House is an early 19th century double pile house with a contemporary two-story rear wing and a cartway to the southwest. The house is built of local brick with a yellow gault brick facade facing the street. It has plain tiled roofs, end stacks, and parapets to both the front facade and gable ends. The front of the house has five recessed sash windows with glazing bars, each set within a cambered arch with key blocks at both the first and second floor levels. Two similar recessed sash windows are located to the left of the central doorway. The doorcase features slender columns, a moulded frieze, and a cornice, topped by a radial fanlight set within double recessed round headed arches with key blocks. The front door is a six-panelled design, while large plank doors lead to the cartway. A band runs horizontally across the facade at first floor level. Inside, the house retains its original 19th century staircase, chimney pieces, and doors.
