Description

Darby's Stores and Number 25 is a house and shop located on the west side of High Street in Sandridge. The shop dates from the late 17th century and features a timber frame construction. The ground floor is plastered, while the upper floor is roughcast. The building has a plain tile gable end roof and consists of two storeys. There are three 20th-century wood casement windows that are evenly spaced on the upper floor. The ground floor includes an early 20th-century double fronted shop with a plain fascia band, along with a door and window to the right. At each end of the roof, there are red brick chimney stacks from the late 17th century, each with two joined shafts. Inside, there are exposed ceiling beams. The house to the north is from the mid-19th century, but it may have an earlier core. It also has a timber frame, a narrow frontage, a recessed door, and a segmental headed glazing bar casement window, and is two storeys high.
