Description
The barn range immediately south of Pound Farmhouse consists of two barns. The southern barn dates from the late 15th century or early 16th century, while the northern barn is from the late 16th century or early 17th century. Both barns are constructed with a timber frame and feature weatherboarding. The roofs are covered with plain tiles, with the southern barn having a smaller gable end roof, and the northern barn comprising four bays. The northern barn has close-studding and a heavy frame, along with a clasped purlin roof. The smaller southern barn has two bays, a central tie beam with a small crown post, and longitudinal braces. It also has curved braces to the ties and end walls. The southern end wall of the southern barn was rebuilt in the 19th century, and there is a small 19th-century extension on the south side, as well as a red brick extension to the west from the same period.
