Description
The Post Office and Stores is a house and shop located on the east side of High Street in Stebbing. It dates from the 19th to 20th century, with a timber-framed and plastered rear that may be from the 17th century or earlier. The building has a red plain tile roof and is two storeys high. The front is made of red brick, featuring a yellow brick band and yellow gauged brick window arches. On the first floor, there are four 19th to 20th century sliding sash windows. The shop has two early 20th century fascias; the left side includes a plain glazed window, while the right side has a central recessed half-glazed shop door, with plain shop windows on either side. Inside, there are exposed chamfered bridging joists. Additionally, there is a wing at the rear of the property, and part of the building was previously used as a bakery.
