Description
No. 6 Mayfield Road is a cottage built in 1775, as indicated by a dated stone. The structure is constructed of brick in English bond and features a reed thatch roof with symmetrical end stacks. The cottage has tumbled end parapets and a red brick eaves cornice with sawtooth and dentil detailing. It is one storey high with an attic and includes two dormer windows. The ground floor has three windows with red brick segmental arches, which consist of two flush frame hung sashes with twelve panes, open boxing, and arched top panes, and one three-light cross-frame casement. The doorway also features a similar arch and has four flush panels. Above the door is a square panel made of Ketton stone, which includes a roundel and the initials MB along with the date 1775. The interior has not been seen.
