Description
No. 22 North Green is a cottage that has been subdivided and is now a single dwelling. It dates from the late 17th century and early 19th century, with a small addition made in the 20th century at the rear. The building is timber framed, with later brick and plaster rendering. It features a steeply pitched thatched roof, which is currently covered with corrugated iron, and has a ridge stack. The layout likely reflects an original lobby entry and three-bay plan, although the doorways have been altered due to 19th-century subdivision. The cottage is one storey high with an attic and includes two dormers. There are segmental arches above two original window openings that contain four-pane hung sashes. Each doorway is fitted with a flush panelled door. Inside, while the framing is not visible, the staircase in the central room is a late 17th-century feature, consisting of one flight with a closed string, flat section twisted balusters, a moulded rail, and a square newel topped with a moulded finial.
