Description

No. 45 Fieldside is a cottage that likely dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It has been altered and repaired in the 19th and 20th centuries. The original timber frame has been largely replaced or covered in brick, with some parts featuring 20th-century weatherboarding. The cottage has a long straw thatch roof that is half-hipped at one end and includes a ridge stack. It originally had a three-bay lobby entry plan, and it may have been extended to connect with No. 98 South Green. The framing is visible in the left-hand gable end wall. Inside, there is an inglenook hearth with a 19th-century mantelpiece that resembles that of No. 98, along with another, later hearth adjacent to the parlour.
