Description
The Wrestlingworth War Memorial is made of granite and features a Celtic-style wheel-head cross with intricate knotwork carved in relief on the front face. The cross is mounted on a tapering square shaft that has a recessed front panel inscribed with "TO THE GLORY OF GOD" at its base. This shaft stands on a trapezoid granite plinth, which is elevated by a single granite step. The entire structure is set on a large, single-stepped cement base.
On the front of the trapezoid plinth, there is a dedication in raised lead lettering that reads "IN MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE IN THE WAR 1914 – 1918" followed by the names of those commemorated. The granite step includes an additional dedication that states "AND 1939 – 1945" along with more names.
