Description

The Downham War Memorial is a granite wheel-head cross featuring a sculpted sword on its front face. It is set on a granite plinth, which has an inscription on the front that reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD / AND IN HONOURED MEMORY OF / THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO FELL / IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918 / (NAMES) / 'THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE.'" The rear face of the plinth is inscribed with "1939 - 1945 / (NAMES)." The entire structure is supported by a square base.
