Description
The Church of St Mary is a Grade II* listed church located in Ramsden Bellhouse. It features an early 15th-century timber-framed and weatherboarded tower topped with a broach spire, which C. A. Hewett dates to around 1425. The nave and chancel were remodeled in the 19th century, but they retain roofs from the 15th and 16th centuries. The construction of the tower is particularly noteworthy, as it is a four-post bell tower supported by a heavy framed rectangular base with substantial braces on the north and south sides. An original 15th-century door with carved spandrels can be found on the west side, and the south porch dates from the 14th to 15th centuries.
