Description
The St Kea War Memorial, built in 1920, is made of Cornish granite. It features a granite wheel cross atop a square shaft, which rises from a tapering plinth and a three-stepped square base. The front face of the plinth is inscribed with the words: "THIS CROSS WAS ERECTED BY THE PARISHIONERS OF ST KEA, IN GRATEFUL AND LOVING MEMORY OF THOSE WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES FOR GOD, KING AND COUNTRY. 1914-1918. NAMES." The front face of the step below bears the inscription "LEST WE FORGET," while the upper face is inscribed with "1939-1945/ NAME." Both the front and rear faces of the wheel cross are adorned with carved Celtic-style motifs.
