Description
No. 53 on Load Street is part of a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a hipped tile roof with a stack at the ridge. It stands three storeys tall and has a stone-coped parapet. The front has three windows: two glazing bar sashes are on either side of a blind window, all set beneath flat arches with stepped stone voussoirs. The second floor mirrors the first floor's window arrangement. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front that includes a plain sign board and a 2-pane plate glass shop window, with a recessed entrance to the left corner that has a glazed door. It is worth noting that No. 54 was originally part of the same building.
