Description

No. 48 on Old Market Street is an attached house that has been converted into a shop and office. It was built around 1820, with a mid-19th century shop front, and underwent restoration in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of brick with limestone dressings and features a pantile hipped roof. It is designed in a late Georgian style and has three storeys plus an attic, with a three-window range. The shop front, which dates from the 19th century, includes banded pilaster strips that rise to a cornice and parapet. The front has an architrave with roundels, a coved fascia, and cornice, along with a central doorway that is set back from a plate-glass shop front. The windows have segmental-arched heads with five stepped voussoirs and narrow 6/6-pane sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
