Description

This is a three-storey house, likely dating from the early 17th century, that has been significantly altered and refronted in the late 18th century. It is now used as a shop and flat. The building is probably timber-framed and clad in brick, with a machine tile roof. The front features a dentilled brick cornice. It has two windows on each floor. The upper windows are glazing bar sashes set within flat arches with stepped voussoirs. The second floor has four-pane sashes under similar arches. The ground floor has a 20th-century tiled shop front; the shop entrance is slightly right of centre with a wooden architrave, overlight, and glazed door. To the right of the shop front is an entrance to a passage, which has a wooden architrave, a blind overlight, and a ledged and boarded door. A console bracket, originally supporting a first-floor jetty, is visible in the passageway, positioned against the adjoining property at number 50.
