Description

64 High Street is a house that now functions as a ground floor shop. It dates from the 17th century or earlier and features a timber frame with a refronting from the 18th century. The building has two storeys and is finished in colourwashed brick, topped with a gambrel roof made of old tiles, which has fretted ridge tiles and two box dormers that rise above the parapet.

On the first floor, there are two flush set sash windows with plate glazing and exposed boxes. The ground floor has a 19th-century shopfront that has been altered. This shopfront includes timber pilasters, timber stall risers leading to arcaded windows, and a central recessed door with an arcaded head. The timber fascia features a moulded base and a moulded cornice adorned with small dentils. Inside, during restoration work in the 1980s, timber studwork with wattle and daub infill was exposed.
