Description
No. 68 Load Street is a house that has been converted into a shop and flat. It dates from the mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a machine tile roof with a stack at the rear. It stands three storeys tall, with a brick coped verge on the right and a stone coped parapet. There are bands at the first and second floors. The building has two windows on the upper floors, which are boxed sashes with tripartite glazing set under rubbed brick heads. The second floor windows match those on the first floor. On the ground floor, there is a pilastered shop front with scroll brackets supporting the cornices. This front includes two plate glass shop windows, each with three-pane overlights, and a central entrance that is recessed, featuring a blind overlight and a glazed door.
