Description
This barn, located about 25 yards northeast of Bournehouse Farmhouse, is likely from the 17th century and has undergone significant alterations. It is timber-framed and features weatherboarding on a sandstone rubble and brick plinth, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The barn consists of three bays, with a central wagon bay and opposing cart entries. The framing includes mainly three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, long straight braces in the lower corners, and end collar-and-tie-beam trusses. There are two collars with raking struts beneath the lower collar and queen struts above. The roof is supported by two rows of trenched purlins and intermediate collar-and-tie-beam trusses with raking struts.
