Description
Kite's Nest Farmhouse is a late 17th-century house constructed from limestone ashlar with a tile roof. It stands two storeys high, with an attic and cellar. The south front features five bays, a plinth, and two string courses. The plinth includes rebated and chamfered mullioned cellar windows, which are two lights in all but the two right-hand windows, which have three lights. The ground and first floors also have rebated and chamfered cross-windows. Each gable has a 2-light mullioned window, and between them is a small segmental gable that displays a worn sundial plaque. Four projecting lead spouts are believed to be dated "1666". There are chimneys located behind the ridge. A parallel range on the north side is marked with the date "1677(?)" on the west gable and has two bays with mullioned windows. Between the bays is a chamfered doorway with a canted head. Inside, the west room of the south range features a fireplace with a bolection-moulded stone surround. A wide open well stair leads to the attic, featuring a closed string, a moulded handrail, and turned balusters.
