Description
Middle Hill is an early 19th-century house constructed from limestone ashlar and topped with a hipped slate roof. It stands two storeys tall with an attic. The entrance front, located on the southeast side, features a symmetrical design of five bays, with the central bay projecting under a pediment and adorned with a modillion cornice. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, and the central window is framed by an architrave that includes a fluted frieze and a dentilled cornice, with a decorative swag positioned below the sill. There are four dormer windows in the attic.
The doorway is notable for its four panelled pilasters that have palm leaf capitals, a fluted frieze with paterae, and a cornice topped with a central pediment. Between the outer pilasters, there are additional windows with glazing bars. Access to the doorway is via stone steps, and the basement area on either side is enclosed by a balustrade. There are chimneys located on the left and right sides, as well as towards the rear of the house. Late 19th-century additions to the right were removed in 1977. The left-hand (southwest) facade features a central bow.
