Description
The Fish Inn is a building that began as a summer house, later becoming a public house and a residence. It is believed to have been constructed in 1771, with some additions made in the late 19th century. The structure is made of limestone ashlar and features a roof of tile and stone slate. The original section has a square plan and a pyramid roof, adorned with a frieze that includes rubble metopes and a moulded cornice. The building has two storeys.
On the north-west wall, there are stone steps that rise in two flights to a rusticated Venetian window, which contains a doorway in the middle opening and engaged balusters beneath the outer lights. Below this window is a ground floor doorway. At the top of the roof, there is a square stone sundial. The rear of the building includes a 19th-century extension, which has a south-west wall featuring two windows with two lights, plain reveals, and flat-faced mullions. To the left of this wall is a doorway with a window above it. The Fish Inn was originally built on the estate of Sir John Cotterell.
