Description

The Aaron memorial is a chest tomb located about 15 metres south-east of the chancel of the Church of St Michael in Elmley Lovett. It dates from the third quarter of the 18th century and is constructed of ashlar stone. The tomb features a flat top with a deeply moulded cornice. Its long sides are divided into two panels, which are flanked by fluted pilasters, and the panels are raised and fielded. The inscription on the east end reads: "Here lies entombed the Remains/ of John Aaron late of Cuttnall-/green Gent. He was descended/ from an antient and e honourable/ family formerly of Little Drayton/ near Shifnal in y County of Salop/ and died Oct 23 1769 Aged 83".
