Description

This is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, 16 yards south-southwest from the porch of the Church of St. Michael. It dates from 1740 and is made of ashlar stone. The tomb features panelled sides with slightly projecting panelled angles, and it is topped with a moulded coping that rests on a moulded base. The sides are intricately carved to resemble domestic wooden panelling. This tomb is dedicated to Thomas Spier, a gentleman who died in 1740.
