Description
The Old Rectory is a house built around 1700, with early 19th century and 20th century additions and alterations. It is constructed of brick with a tiled roof and features painted ashlar dressings. The building has two storeys and an attic, which is lit by two flat-roofed dormers. It has a wooden cornice with modillions, stone-coped verges with finials on the kneelers, quoins, two string courses, and end stacks. The façade consists of five bays with four windows that have 24-pane flush-framed sashes, set under rubbed brick heads with keystones that connect to the string courses. The central bay features a pedimented tablet with a head, flanked by wings in the pediment, and a bolection-moulded tablet below. On the ground floor, there are two similar sashes to the left and two 12-pane sashes to the right, with a central entrance that has a shell canopy on consoles and a moulded frame around a six-panelled door. An early 19th century wing has been added to the left, which contains three windows. The garden front of the house was remodelled in the early 19th century with render and four glazing bar sash windows. Inside, the staircase was remodelled in the early 19th century and features stick balusters.
