Description
Big Bouts Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 16th century, with alterations made in the mid-18th century and 19th century. It features a timber frame that is clad in brick and has a tiled roof. The building has a T-plan layout, with the main section extending to the north and a cross-wing at the south end that appears to be an 18th-century addition. The main stack is centrally located in the two-bay north/south range.
The west front has one storey with an attic, which is illuminated by two gabled dormers on the left. On the right, the cross-wing has two storeys and an attic, with a gable window and a 2-light casement with a segmental head on each floor. The left range has two casements and a secondary entrance to the left. The main entrance is located at the angle of the building, featuring a lean-to canopy and a ledged door. One main post of the timber framing is exposed in the front wall.
