Description
Malthouse Cottage is a house dating from the late 16th century, with alterations from the early 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame with lath and plaster infill, brick additions, and a thatched roof. The building consists of two framed bays aligned east to west, with a central stack and 19th-century extensions to the north and west.
The east front has one storey and an attic, which is lit by a gable casement in the timber-frame gable on the left. To the right, there is a one-storey 19th-century extension with a tile roof. The ground floor has five windows, all from the 20th century, and the entrance is located to the left of centre in the 19th-century addition. The framing includes close-studding below a single square panel, and the gable truss features two collars with five struts below the lower one.
