Description
The Malthouse is a house dating from the early 17th century, with mid-19th century and some late 20th century alterations. It features a timber frame with rendered infill on a stone plinth and a thatched roof. The building has three framed bays aligned north to south, with a rubble gable-end stack at the north and a brick stack at the south. It is one storey high with an attic, which is lit by three casement windows in framed gables that have ornate 19th century bargeboards. The ground floor includes a central square bay with a hipped roof, flanked by two 3-light casements that have plaster square labels above them. There are two entrances between the windows, each with 20th century ledged and boarded doors beneath square labels. The framing features close-studding with a mid-rail at the ground floor, and at the attic level, there is one square panel high.
