Description

This is an early to mid-19th century house, originally known as Melbury House and located on Worcester Road before being re-numbered to 68 Main Road, Kempsey. The house is constructed of stucco with a slate roof and is designed in a Gothick style. It is two storeys high and has two bays. The facade is characterised by pilaster strips with tracery panels. A band of Tudor arches, separated by pendant bosses, runs below the eaves. A verandah with iron supports extends across the ground floor. The right-hand bay features a timber canted bay window on the ground floor. The first-floor windows have Tudor-arched heads with hoodmoulds and timber mullions that branch to form Y-tracery, incorporating transoms. The windows are glazed with margin panes. The door in the left-hand bay has Gothick mouldings and a fanlight within a Tudor-arched head. A chimney is situated near the centre of the ridge.
