Description
This barn, located about 60 yards east of Berrington Court, is likely from the early 18th century and was altered in the late 20th century. It is timber-framed and weatherboarded, resting on a rubble base with some brick walling and topped with a corrugated iron roof. The barn features eight framed bays that are aligned roughly north to south, with wagon bays that have opposed cart entries in the second and fifth bays from the north end. Most of the elevations are hidden behind 20th-century lean-to additions. Inside, the wall framing consists of three panels from the sill to the wall plate. The roof includes intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts and a single tier of trenched purlins, although the end trusses are not visible.
