Description
Brook Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The building features a mix of painted rubble and brick, as well as timber framing and rendering, topped with slate and plain tiled roofs and brick stacks. It has an L-plan layout, consisting of a main range with four bays aligned northeast to southwest and a single-bay wing to the northwest. The farmhouse is two storeys high.
On the main southeast elevation, there are two 2-light casements and a large 3-light casement on the ground floor, along with three 2-light casements on the first floor. To the left of center, there is a ledged and battened door, and a 19th-century external brick chimney is positioned to the left. The northeast gable end features a 3-light casement on both floors, each with a hoodmould and returns. At the rear of the main range, there is a lean-to outshut with a catslide roof.
Inside, the internal wall framing is visible. The main ground floor room in the original part of the farmhouse has large moulded ceiling beams that divide the ceiling into compartments.
