Description
The stables and cowhouse, located about 22 yards southeast of Charlton House Farmhouse, date from the late 18th century, with an adjoining cowhouse added in the late 19th century. The stables are constructed of brick and feature a dentilled eaves cornice and a tiled roof, arranged in a three-bay plan. The northwest elevation facing the farmyard includes a window with a cambered head and wooden mullions, along with a stable door. Inside, there is a central partition and two king-post roof trusses, with a door leading to the cowhouse. The adjoining cowhouse, built in the late 19th century, has a stone rubble plinth and is also made of brick, with a dentilled eaves cornice and a tiled roof, following the same three-bay plan. The farmyard elevation of the cowhouse features a wooden mullioned window and a planked door next to the stable. The interior also has two king-post roof trusses. This building is included for its group value.
