Description

Coles Place is a farmhouse dating from around 1620, which has been converted into three dwellings. It features a timber-framed structure with brick infill, although parts have been replaced with sandstone rubble and brick. The building has a sandstone cellar and a tiled roof. It follows a baffle entry plan with a three-bay cross-wing and stands two storeys high plus an attic, with a cellar in the main range.

The main elevation includes a brick replacement wall on the left and central bay of the main range, featuring two wide-spaced 19th-century casement windows on each floor and a central planked door. There is a central chimney made of sandstone rubble with a brick stack and four octagonal shafts topped with oversailing cap courses. The cross-wing has a ground floor replaced by sandstone rubble, with a 19th-century metal casement window, an attic casement, and a planked door at the angle with the main range. A brick stack is located at the ridge junction with the main range. The left elevation shows sandstone rubble walling continuing at ground floor level to the rear bay, which has been rebuilt in brick, and includes five ground floor and two first floor casements. The right gable end of the main range has a planked door leading to the cellar and a weatherboarded gable with a boarded attic window. The rear elevation has undergone 19th-century alterations and additions.

Inside, the building features stop-chamfered main beams.
